Should I set my thermostat to auto or on during the summer?
Auto, in almost every case here. Leaving the fan on continuously re-evaporates moisture off the indoor coil and pushes it back into the house, which feels worse during monsoon weeks and adds blower runtime you gain nothing from.
What temperature should I set my thermostat to in an Arizona summer?
Most households land between 78 and 80 degrees while home, with a few degrees of setback when away. Pushing much lower on a 105 degree afternoon asks the equipment for capacity it was never sized to deliver, and the bill follows.
Does closing vents in unused rooms save energy?
